Women who inspire the future: Papo do Ano will debate the role of female leadership in developing the ESG agenda and building a more sustainable world

You must have seen or heard about the acronym ESG. But do you know what it means? ESG is an acronym that refers to Environmental, Social, and Governance, that is, environmental, social, and governance criteria. These criteria are used to measure the responsibility and sustainable impact of companies. They assess how companies manage environmental issues, treat their employees, customers, and communities, and how they structure their administration practices and internal controls.

According to the research “ESG Agenda, Feminine Noun,” conducted by Monique Cardoso, a master in Management for Competitiveness from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), women in leadership contribute to better business performance in the ESG agenda. Overall performance can reach 52%, environmental 54%, and social 53%; while the absence of women can lead to low performance on the topic, according to the study. Considering that women occupy an average of 11.5% of seats on the boards of directors of Brazilian publicly traded companies, against a world average of 20.6%, it is important to understand how the presence of women in leadership, whether in the executive board and/or on the board, can benefit companies’ ESG results.

With this in mind, on August 8th, the event "Papo do Ano - Women who Inspire the Future" will take place at Ferrari Eventos, in Vitória. The program includes lectures, workshops, and panels, addressing topics such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the expansion of female presence in leadership roles, and organizational transformation through gender equity. The co-founder and COO of Papo de Quinta, Flávia Herkenhoff, highlights the relevance of the event: "We will bring together female leaders and personalities from various areas to discuss the impact of women on the ESG agenda, promoting sustainable and inclusive practices."

Journey to the future

In its second edition, Papo do Ano will discuss the role of women in promoting the ESG agenda, taking a journey from the past to the future. There will be four panels, where speakers will address the impact women have on sustainable development, driving change towards a fairer, more balanced, and equitable future.

Panel 1: Legacy of Leadership

Bernadette Lyra, writer and emeritus professor at Ufes, and Myrt Cruz, director of the Faculty of Administration, Economics, Accounting, and Actuarial Sciences at PUC-SP, will debate the historical trajectory of women in the fight for equal rights and highlight their achievements and contributions over time. The conversation will be moderated by Rita Abreu, journalist and founder of Espírito Santo's first market research company.

Panel 2: Transforming the Now

Flávia Brunelli, an entrepreneur listed in Forbes Under 30, and Flavia Gamonar, an official LinkedIn Learning instructor with over 1 million followers, discuss how women are driving significant changes in their organizations and communities, and what the challenges are in the pursuit of gender equity. The talk will be moderated by content creator Marina Ferreira.

Panel 3: Building the Future Together

Clarissa Lopes, general director of Domingão com Huck (TV Globo), and Thaís Alcântara, commercial head of B2Mamy (Brazil's first and largest community of mothers) will debate how women can expand their presence and influence in leadership roles, and how they can impact the future of the next generations. The conversation will be led by journalist Elaine Silva, executive digital product manager at A Gazeta.

Panel 4: Actions for a Better World

Mia Mamede, Miss Brazil and spokesperson for the UN SDGs, and Marilucia Dalla, president of Afecc, invite the public to explore how women leaders are promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), driving sustainability and social responsibility. The moderators of this panel will be Papo de Quinta co-founders, Flávia Herkenhoff and Juliana Zaganelli.

In addition to the panels, Papo do Ano will feature the practical workshop “Productivity aimed at Generating Results,” inspired by the book Atomic Habits, promoted by Sofia Stefanon, founder of the Livros na Prática Community.

"We have prepared a space to inspire participants about concrete changes in business and social practices, promoting an environment for networking and real connections," declares Juliana Zaganelli, co-founder and CEO of Papo de Quinta. After the event, there will also be an "after party" open to all who purchase tickets.
